Shaun says: "This recording is in glorious monophonic, with some distortion when the bass got loud. I would rate it B+/A-. Complete concert except for a few seconds of To Be Over. Recorded early in the Relayer tour, just before the album was released." "This recording is the result of 27 years of experimentation, perspiration, meditation, and finally, revelation. It was recorded from a nosebleed seat in Atlanta's Omni arena, November 30, 1974. In my backpack I had smuggled a Panasonic cassette recorder and a Shure cardioid dynamic microphone, the latter making the difference between a salvageable tape and a complete mess. Later, using all of the equipment at my disposal - my Tandberg 3000X tape recorder, an old tube equalizer trashed by a radio station, the radio studios at the University of Georgia's journalism school - I never got a satisfactory result. In April 1975, I gave up on the project. I dubbed my work to a reel of tape and put it all away in a box that I hauled around with me from then on. In May 2000, armed with a new computer, a used reel-to-reel deck, and enough audio processing software to revive the project, I dug the tape out of the box. And what you hold in your hands now is the result of 27 years of... if not work, then, at least, anticipation. Or hope. And the fact that you are now holding it in your hands is evidence of my satisfaction with the end result... for the moment, anyway. -Shaun T., November, 2001" (from the Atlantis booklet)
