I spliced in the sbd source for the missing sections (around 0 - 1.20 and 1.41 - 3.08) Aud Source Lineage: CD Silver > EAC (wav) > Traders Little Helper (flac8) Various notes about this recording posted on Traders Den: ************ The Epic release on vinyl had crowd noise overdubbed from a bullfight. ************ This is the audience version, presumably recorded by an amateur. The officially released record is soundboard + maybe a room mic for a little atmosphere in there plus bullfight cheers. ************ I did a transfer of the EPIC LP that was in great condition from WailingSounds a few years ago.. you can find that still running in some places (though not here - it was semi-official when released), so I'm really familiar with this date and these tracks. This is a nice audience version of the date and it's really nice to hear it as it sounded in the room instead of the really harsh, direct mic recording with crowd overdubs we got from EPIC on the LP. After hearing this, I can safely say that EPIC either didn't record or completley removed entire pieces of Page's playing on some of the songs - especially noticeable on "My Baby" - which is cut mercifully short here by the taper, who likely didn't care for the song (I never have either). So yes, if anyone doubts, this IS the correct date, correct tracks (though some are cut by the taper saving tape) and the 2 rehearsals tracks are the real thing (though those 2 still sound like shit, like they always have) - matching exactly the tracks I included in the EPIC transfer torrent that were given to me by a collector a few years ago. If you like the Yardbirds and want to hear this date as if you were there (though maybe behind a curtain in the back - it's a bit muffled) rather than the too-clean EPIC LP recording, get this. ************ This show comes from a rather infamous LP. With the success of Led Zeppelin, Epic decided to cash in on Jimmy Page and so released this LP. The hardcore are familiar with the story - the drums were recorded with a single mic, crowd noise was added with the sound of clinking glasses, etc. The result? Jimmy immediately had the LP pulled off shelves.... but not before some got out. This set is taken directly from the original Epic vinyl (I had to go through a TMQ boot, then a pirate [artwork in black and white] before finally getting my hands on the genuine Epic LP). The set includes an early version of Dazed & Confused (here called "I'm Confused"), which includes Keith Relfs original lyrics. The release has always been pretty panned over the years, but I've always enjoyed it quite a bit myself. See what you think. ************ After giving this a listen, I believe this is the best sounding audience recording I've heard of the Yardbirds (which isn't saying much). Greatly appreciated ! So, who's got that Jimmy Page / Jeff Beck line-up recording? 1966 Albert Hall maybe ? ************ Just grabbed this and it's very decent. You can tell the taper was shutting off the recorder between songs to save tape. ************
