Few artists have had as big an impact in such a short time 
as Stevie Ray Vaughan. Throughout most of the '80s, the gangly 
kid from South Dallas, backed by his powerful rhythm section 
Double Trouble, reignited popular interest in the blues while 
making a name for himself as one of the most incendiary players 
since Jimi Hendrix two decades earlier.

Vaughan's Austin City Limits appearances, in 1983 and 1989, 
bookend his all-too-short recording career and clearly spotlight 
an artist who burns with the desire to tap into every drop of 
an enormous wellspring of raw talent.

A retrospective produced from highlights of those two appearances 
has aired many times, and still remains one of the most popular 
Austin City Limits programs ever aired. In Stevie Ray Vaughan: 
The Outtakes, fans see and hear priceless buried treasures: some 
rarely before seen and others only by those who were lucky enough 
to have been a part of the studio audience.
