I taped this show from the front row of the Houston Music Hall. Not exactly the best place to tape a show, but a good place to watch it from. First set is OK. Patti comes back from intermission in a different world from the rest of us. Incredibly bizarre. Notes that came with this recording: sound: band comes thru good, sometimes really good vocals are a bit in the back source: unknown mic > unknown record deck transfer fromm master cassettes taper: mystical crow transfer: markp setlist info per: http://setlists.pattismithlogbook.info/index.html ********************************************** Notes about 79-May-23: Info I found out about this: Patti Smith Frederick (Rare 1979 US Arista 2-track promo 12" includes exclusive live version recorded in New York, 23/5/79, custom picture stickered sleeve. SP-62) The Palladium show served as the source for two live B-sides the PSG released in 1979. A third live track was supposed to appear on a promo 7" single, but that never happened. From Hit Parader, 1979: Upcomlng plans for the band include the release of a live album taped during their recent European tour. ____________________________________________ Notes that came with this recording: Patti Smith Frederick from unreleased live album The story I heard...Patti was going to release a live album around 1978-79 and she had recorded a number of NY shows. Supposedly the track list was drawn up, but somehow the project was scuttled. All that remains, they say, is this promo only version of Frederick that kicks ass, and the cover of Manfred's 5 4 3 2 1. In the next week, I'm going to put up an outtake of Patti doing Because the Night. Please tell all your friends who are software experts. The song has speed issues that I can't fix. I'm hoping that if I throw it out, it will come back to me someday fixed and sounding great. Patti Smith Group Frederick Live NYC 5/23/79 sb>promo 45>cdr(0)>eac>flac Frederick (5.40)
