Consisting of a large floating group of musicians, they soon developed their own unique sound, a blend of rock, minimalism and Allen's bizarre lyrical imagery. They eventually landed a deal with Virgin Records, releasing hippy classics such as Camembert Electrique, Flying Teapot and Angel's Egg. By 1975, Daevid Allen and Gilli Smyth had left the band and their original psychedelic blueprint developed into a jazz rock band. This album was recorded at the Hippodrome Paris on 77-May-28, during their reunion tour. It features the classic Gong line up of Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Didier Malherbe, Steve Hillage and Tim Blake performing favourite tracks from their psychedelic past.
