Unfortunately, sb is incomplete for both the Nov 21+22 dates, as well as non containing much of the between song tunings. So, instead of having yet another version of this show that is not the best one out there, I decided to patch in the material from sb that was from Nov 21. Sometimes the patch occurs during the tunups and announcements, other times it happens just before a song starts or right after it ends. Unfortunately, the change over is pretty obvious, as sd is pretty hissy and sb is a crystal clear soundboard. Though I did my best at trying to find the exact point where one source is cut and the other kicks in, it is clearly not perfect. Still, this is the version I will pull out for 70-Nov-21, unless a complete soundboard recording of this show surfaces. SD was not a seemless recording (ie there were distinct cuts between some of the tracks) so some of the cuts here are due to the fact that both sources had some cuts in the recording (sb much more so than sd). Notes that came with the "A Sheer Drop" recording: ~ A Hoarders Inc. & GBC Production ~ Pink Floyd 'A Sheer Drop' Venue : Altes Casino Montreux, Switzerland Date : November 21st 1970 Tape recorded on October 10th 1982 (tape misdated as 1970-09-18) Recording source .. FLAC > WAV > Speed Correction > Downsample to 16/44 > FLAC What a great concert. One of my favorite Floyd shows, even if they did make some mistakes and the equipment had some trouble . (check Cymbaline) I always like the Floyd shows that have some troubles because they are so fucking good at sorting them out. And coming up with something even better. And this show is the example. For every mistake, a great and high arrangement next. I tripped to obscured places listening to this recording. Check the drums on The Embryo, but don't let your mind go too far. Check the guitars on AHM, you can feel the astonished people in the audience videoing a dark sky full of stars and wondering if these 4 guys are really playing in front of them or on a rocket. This sounds way better than R&D's 'Set The Controls', ok, maybe the hiss is more present, but that's due to the brightness of the tape too. Here, you can listen to this show in an incredible definition in spite of the hiss, which reveals that the master of this recording should sound fantastic. If it wasnt for the hiss, I would give to this an EX+ with my eyes closed. Also, and sadly, AD and Embryo has some drop outs, much more noticeable on The Embryo. These drop outs were also on the STC release, so both tapes came from the same source. (STC being higher than this). But we decided not to apply any kind of remasterization to this recording, only a very needed speed correction was applied (the last 3 songs ran very fast, and you can ocasionally hear some speed fluctuations on the last 2 tracks, seems the tape wasnt in the best condition). But about the turbulences, I don't think they are native to this tape. I think they came from a lower generation of this source. IO cuts out as on all other sources. So now, Sirene actually has something to do. Enjoy! Hoarders Inc.
