1970-August-29 Emerson, Lake and Palmer Birth Of A Band Isle Of Wight Festival Isle Of Wight, England DVD 1 - 66.52 1 Pictures At An Exhibition 22.48 incomplete 2 Take A Pebble 3 Rondo 4 Nutrocker Being a COMPLETE psycho, I actually had the interest to know what sections of the Pictures performance was cut. Having a complete audio recording of their performance gave me something to compare the DVD to. I took me a f*cking LONG time to go through this. My wife suffered in silence hearing the same small section of music repeated many, many times as I switched between the dvd & cd trying to see what was dropped. Below is the result of my analysis. Please realize that some times may be off by a second or two or three. Picture as captured on the DVD 1: 22.48 1 Promenade 1 1.25 has all 2 The Gnome 5.14 has all 3 Promenade 2 2.00 * 1 The Sage skipped 4 The Old Castle 1.45 * 2 5 Blues Variation 1.51 * 3 6 Promenade 3 .14 * 4 7 The Hut Of Baba Yaga 1 1.15 has all 8 The Curse Of Baba Yaga 2.24 * 5 The Hut Of Baba Yaga 2 skipped 9 The Great Gates Of Kiev 6.35 * 7 * 1: Promenade 2: starts at beg of Prom2 then cuts @ 2.00, skips all of The Sage and jumps to Old Castle (loses 1.41m) * 2: Old Castle: 0 - .41m from same of audio, then picks up from 1.23 of audio track and then for the next 1.02m carries on to the end of the track (1.23 - 3.03), though it drops about .38m somewhere in the middle * 3 Blues Variation: somewhere just before the video hits the 1.20m mark (this probably occurs sometime in the 1.10-1.20 range), it skips about 2.35m. The 1.20m mark on the video is where the band sort of climaxes and goes into the weird, quieter synth bit that begins around the 4m mark on the audio track. The video only contains about .30m of this ending section of the song, which in reality is about 1.30m long, thereby losing another 1.00m, which w/ the above missing 2.35m roughly gives the 3.40m that the video is missing in comparison to the audio. * 4: Promenade 3: only contains about first 13s of Promenade3 (then has last 1-2 sec of slight drum roll into Hut Of Baba Yaga 1) * 5: Curse Of Baba Yaga: 0 - .26 of the film contains only the space synth music during the first .59m of the track, cutting out lakes bass noodling part (.07 - .39) of audio track -- so it takes 0 - .07 and then .39 - .59 (the .26m) and then continues on from .59 - 2.56 (for 1.57m), giving you the 2.23 * 6: Hut Of Baba Yaga 2: skips all of Hut Of Baba Yaga 2, except for about .04m at end that segues into Gates Of Kiev (drum hit then organ) (loses 1.07m) * 7: Gates Of Kiev: 0 - 6.35 of Great Gates Of Kiev (loses about 2-3 sec at end, remaining 54s of T11_GatesOfKiev is applause) Here are the track times for both the official Pictures LP and the complete audio recording of the 70-Aug-29 Pictures performance.
